RUN X is the first official World Treadmill Championship, from Technogym and World Athletics. A certified 5km, run right here in Altrincham, ranked against runners all over the world.
What is Run X
A real race no weather no start line at dawn
RUN X is a partnership between Technogym and World Athletics, the global governing body for athletics. Runners complete a 5km on connected Technogym treadmills in affiliated centres, and every result is certified and posted to a live global leaderboard.
It is built for every level. Whether you are chasing a sub 20 minute 5km or running your first one, your time counts and you can see exactly where you rank, locally and worldwide.
The fastest runners progress through the stages to the World Finals at Technogym Village in Italy.

Run your certified 5km here at Altytude. Your time goes straight onto the global leaderboard.

Your category
Sex, age & region
You’re ranked against runners of the same sex, age group and World Athletics region.
Age groups are 18–23, 24–35, 36–45, 46–55, 56–65, 66–75 and 75+, set by your age on 31 December 2026.
Qualification to Regionals
Top 25% go through
You get one certified attempt per race day, and only your fastest time counts.
The top 25% in each category race in the Regionals.
Regionals to World Finals
Two ways to the final
The Absolute final takes the top 10 men & top 10 women: 6 regional winners, the next 3 fastest worldwide and 1 host nation wildcard.
Each age group final takes the 10 fastest times worldwide.
Qualify for both? You go to the Absolute final, or you can choose your age group instead.

World Athletics
A wildcard to Yangzhou
The overall men’s and women’s champions earn wildcards into the 5K at the 2027 World Athletics Road Running Championships, plus trophies, medals and World Athletics recognition.
